Installations by Zimoun – rhythm as drone

Zimoun makes minimal/maximal kinetic installations using simple machines, multiplied by dozens of times. Motors, wires, ping-pong balls, fans, polystyrene, cardboard. His aesthetic is clean and minimal. The resulting sounds bring to mind the sound of raindrops, or a hive of bees, or rain amongst leaves.

Each unit in each installation is itself performing a short rhythmical phrase. Multiplied by sometimes over a hundred times, these tiny sounds become washes, drones, filling the space the installation inhabits.
